NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME [N.S.S.]

The main objective of NSS is to create spirit of service among students to the fellow being and to the society. It also aims at the personality development of students by interaction and participation in various social and cultural activities. Every students completing 240 hours of social work and attending one special camp will be eligible for a certificate issued by University, which fetches 5 marks weightage for higher study. There are two units of N.S.S (Unit No. 171 and Unit No. 8) in the college each having an enrolment strength of 100.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS [N.C.C]

A unit of NCC has been functioning in this college since 2005. The unit is functioning under 9 Kerala Girls Battalion NCC Calicut. Lieutenant Meeradevi.A.C , H/D of Hindi has been functioning as NCC officer since its inception. The strength of our unit is 106. The Motto of NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’ . Main objectives of NCC is to develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook , spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service among youth to make them useful citizen.

THE MAIN INCENTIVES THAT CAN BE BENEFITTED FOR NCC INCLUDES:

Academic Incentives :- By Govt.of Kerala- Seat for Professional courses - Engineering course - 31,MBBS - 2 , BHMS/BDS/AMS/BSc.Nursing – 02 each B VSC – 01 ,B pharm – 01 , Poly tecnic – 30

Weightage of Mark-Plus Two / TTC= 10marks, Degree = 15marks,P.G course =5 mark each

Note:‘A’,‘B’,‘C’certificate holders eligible for Additional weightage marks 3,5,& 5 respectively

Grace Marks-(Calicut University)-‘B’Cerificate 2%,TSC cadets 6%,’C’certificate4%,RD cadets 7%

Reservation of Post-for the post graduate courses – 1 seat each for each subjects at Sanskrit University,1 seat each to eligible cadets for each course of arts , commerce ,MBA and LLB at Cochin University.

Govt.of Kerala PSC reference in uniformed services of State. Bonus Mark- ‘A’ certificate -02, ’B’ certificate -03,’C’ certificate 05. Scholarships – Rs.6000/- per year to 760 cadets. Best cadets Rs.3500/- each , Second best cadet Rs.2500/- each.

Sahara Scholarships – SW Rs.12000 each. Professional courses Rs.30000/-(eligibity crieteria-the candidate should have 80% attendance in NCC, 65 % mark in Science,60% in Commerce , 55% in Arts stream in XII, should have completed at least 1 year of NCC in SW)

WALK WITH SCHOLAR PROGRAMME [W.W.S]

The program aims to empower the achieving students to reach higher by providing them mentorship. The students are followed two levels of mentoring-internal as well as external-to enable them to gain the best in education. It also attempts to recalibrate their talents and potentials.

STUDENTS SUPPORT PROGRAMME [S.S.P]

The Scholar Support Programme (SSP) is a novel initiative of the Higher Education Departmentof the Govt. of Kerala which aims at imparting personalized additional support to needy students through Tutorials, study materials, additional lectures, question banks and interactive sessions, formation of quality circles in colleges for the programme, dissemination of classes through personal and web based modes etc. Fifty students from first year of UG programme will be selected under this programme.
