The Department of Chemistry at KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, in collaboration with the Chemistry Club, organized a thought-provoking debate competition on 30th August 2024, in observance of the International Day Against Nuclear Tests. Held in room G 203 and coordinated by Dr. Jamsheena V, with student coordinator Haniya, the event aimed to foster awareness and understanding among students about the critical global issue of nuclear testing and its profound impact on the environment, human health, and global security. The debate provided a platform for students to articulate their perspectives on nuclear disarmament, the ethical implications of nuclear tests, and the role of international cooperation in achieving a nuclear-free world. Participants engaged in lively discussions, showcasing their research, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. The competition not only heightened awareness of the devastating consequences of nuclear tests but also encouraged students to consider the importance of global peace and security. The event was highly successful, with enthusiastic participation from the students, who left with a deeper understanding of the need for continued efforts towards nuclear disarmament
