The Department of Zoology extended experiential learning at Western Ghats Field Research Station Zoological Survey of India, Kozhikode, a premier Indian organization in Zoological research and studies to promote survey, exploration and research of the fauna of our nation. 82 students of third semester B.Sc. Botany and B.Sc. Family and Community Science accompanied by three faculty members visited the institute on 21st September 2022. The huge collection of wet and dry preserved specimens, majority from Western Ghats and Lakshadweep Islands threw light on the mega biodiversity of the country. Visit to the ecofriendly Sarovaram Biopark lying adjacent to Canoly Canal in the heart of Kozhikode city gave an insight into conservation of habitats. The park set up for conservation of Mangrove forests, wetlands and habitat of birds also provided a place of recreation, free from the noise of the city.
