The extension activity, “Pothichoru”, a best practice of the Home Science department was launched by Jb. Munawar Ali Shihab Thangal (President, College Management Committee) during theHome Science fest held on March 2nd 2017. It was implemented as a community welfare program on every Tuesday with a motive to distribute “Pothichoru” to Shalomatha Bhavan, a home for the mentally ill and destitute women run by Franciscan Missionary Sisters. On 19th and 26th of July2022, the students were asked to bring Pothichoru from their homes and the collected food was distributed to the inmates of the home. Those who were not able to bring pothichoru contributed towards the transportation expense and for purchasing grocery items to the home.
