The PG Department of Home Science, Unity College Alumni Association (UCAA) and PTA jointly organised the formal inauguration of the Sanowar Corner at KAHM Unity Women’s College in fond memory of late Ms. Sanowar Razak on 22 August 2023 in the presence of her beloved parents, friends and relatives. Ms Sanowar Razak, an outstanding student of the B Sc Family and Community Science 2017-2020 batch, had met with a tragic car crash that claimed her life. The occasion was heavy with emotions as her parents, teachers, friends and relatives reminisced their best memories about this beloved student. The Sanowar Corner at Shihab Thangal Library and Information Centre of the college has been set up with a special collection of books contributed by the staff, alumni, PTA and management that would enlighten and inspire any reader and thereby keep the memory of Sanowar alive forever, who believed in living for the happiness of others. The Principal, Prof.(Dr.)Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, presided over the function. Er. O Abdul Ali, the college manager, Ms. Anitha Begum, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Home Science, Dr Annie Ninan, Dr. K Fousi, Ms M K Vineetha, Mr Basheer Hussain Thangal, the former librarian and Mr Adam Thanari, spoke in memory of Ms. Sanowar. PTA Vice President Mr Musthafa announced a Sanowar Memorial Award for the excellent students from the current academic year onwards. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by the Librarian, Ms Harsha.
