‘POSHAAN MAAH’ -COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME-ANAEMIA

The PG Home Science students of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, conducted a two-days Nutrition Month programme focusing on the theme ‘Anaemia’ in Kulamadam village. On the first day, a survey was conducted on 26th September 2024 by the first year PG students among 50 adult women to collect data on the basis of Anaemia. Mrs. Bushaira V, Faculty co-ordinator effectively took the lead and Ms.Shifa Rinshi (1st sem. M.Sc.Home Science) , executed to conducted the survey proficiently. On the second day (30th September 2024), the PG second-year students conducted a nutrition education class for the local women at Kulamadam Anganwadi. Mrs.Udhaya, Kulamadam Anganwadi worker, welcomed everyone present there. A comprehensive nutrition education class was conducted on Anaemia by the student Ms.Noufiya Thasni (3rd sem. M.Sc. Home Science). The objective was to educate the local women who represents the village on Aneamia-its symptoms, causes, prevention strategies, and the importance of iron-rich foods on daily basis. The students exhibited iron-rich food products and charts associated with Anaemia and provided hands-on cooking experience using iron rich ingredients. The students also measured and recorded the height, weight, BP, sugar and hemoglobin levels of the local women present there. Mrs.Farsana Shirin K, Faculty Co-ordinator, extended the vote of thanks, and Ms. Noufiya Thasni (3rd sem.M.Sc.Home Science), student coordinator, expertly moderated the programme.
