Anti ragging awareness programme by NSS and Anti Ragging Cell

NSS Units 171 & 008 in association with Anti ragging Cell, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, conducted an awareness programme about anti ragging on 30th August 2024, from 10:30 am to 12:00 PM, at AC Seminar Hall. The event began with a welcome address by Fathima Hashim, NSS Secretary, who introduced the importance of anti-ragging measures. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. Haris U., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, who emphasized the need for vigilance and ethical conduct. The inauguration was performed by Prof. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, College Principal who highlighted the institution’s commitment to preventing ragging. Adv. Shax MT, a distinguished Manjeri panel advocate, delivered an insightful keynote address on the legal aspects of anti-ragging. He began by outlining the legal framework governing ragging in India, emphasizing the strict penalties and proactive measures established under the Supreme court directives and UGC regulations. He shared his personal experiences in handling cases related to ragging. He stressed the role of educational institutions in implementing effective anti-ragging policies and maintaining a supportive environment for students. His speech underscored the collective responsibility of society, educational bodies and the legal system in combating ragging and ensuring a safe academic experience for all students. The session included felicitations by Dr. Deepa K, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Faseela P, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Fathima Rasha, NSS Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their contribution to raising awareness on this crucial issue.
