FYUGP orientation Programme. The PG Department of Home Science conducted a Welcome and an orientation on FYUGP for the first-year students on July 10th,2024. The program commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Annie Ninan, Head of the department by expressing heart felt congratulations to the new students for their successful admission to the program. In her speech she highlighted the department’s history of excellence and about the dedicated faculty members who are committed to their well-being and success. The faculty members were introduced to the students. Each faculty member gave a brief introduction about themselves, their areas of expertise and the subjects they will be teaching. This was followed by the FYUGP orientation session by the department coordinator Dr Annie Ninan, providing an overview of the program and highlighting the significance of FYUGP and the journey ahead for the students. The importance of graduate attributes in a degree program like critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem solving, adaptability etc. and its development through curricular and co- curricular activities were emphasized. Following this was a session on the overview of the Family and Community Science program and it’s benefits by Mrs Shahala K, Assistant professor (Adhoc). She emphasized on the interdisciplinary approach of the program and focus on understanding family and community dynamics. An interactive question and answer session addressing students’ queries and concerns was a highlight of the program. The orientation successfully emphasized the importance of graduate attributes preparing the students for a holistic academic experience that fosters both academic and personal growth.
