*NSS Day Celebration & Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 Inauguration*
On 24th September 2024, the NSS Units 171 & 008 of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, affiliated with Calicut University, celebrated NSS Day with great enthusiasm. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony at 10:30 AM in front of the college office block, led by the college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur. The ceremony marked the start of the celebrations, with NSS volunteers proudly singing the NSS anthem. Mr. Haris U, the NSS Programme Officer, welcomed the participants and attendees, setting the tone for a day dedicated to service and awareness. Following the flag hoisting, the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign was officially inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and community service. The gathering was addressed by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Faseela P and Dr. Hikmathulla V, HOD, Department of Malayalam and inspired the students by highlighting the significance of the NSS’s motto of “Not Me, But You,” stressing the role of students in bringing positive change to society. From 11:40 AM to 1:00 PM, an orientation session titled “Empowering Change Makers” was conducted in the college auditorium by Mr. Shabeer Mon, the Head of the Department of History. The session aimed to inspire and empower the NSS volunteers by educating them on the impact they can make as active citizens. Mr. Shabeer Mon’s insightful lecture focused on the transformative potential of youth, encouraging them to take leadership roles in community service and to be agents of change. The session was well-received by the volunteers, who expressed their appreciation through active participation. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hana Fathima, the NSS Secretary. In the afternoon, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, NSS volunteers actively engaged in cleaning activities inside the campus and along the roadside adjacent to the college from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Teams of volunteers collected plastic waste, paper, and other debris, ensuring that both the campus and its surroundings were cleaned thoroughly. The drive not only contributed to a cleaner environment but also raised awareness among students and the local community about the importance of cleanliness.
