Overview

The Department of Psychology aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of scientific discipline of psychology, opportunities for practical experience and growth in the understanding of self and others. Established in 2019, the department is actively involved in teaching and other activities. The department equips the student with skills to pursue research and extend their knowledge to community through field visits, camps and other extension activities. The department offers self-financing three year BSc degree course in psychology .The department is equipped with a well-developed psychology lab. The undergraduate areas of study include basic themes in psychology like perception, learning, intelligence, cognition, development, social, health , abnormal psychology and psychological measurement. In 2019 Mrs Fathima shirin K A has joined in the department as the first member. Mrs Fidha Rahman  joined in 2019 as a part time, in 2020 she became full time faculty and Mrs Shifana.P  joined in 2021.

Message From HOD

 Psychology is one of the most popular course at KAHM Unity women’s college. The department of psychology established on 2019 with BSC psychology course. The department has always provided excellent training for the professional development of students & the students are trained in the theoretical as well as practical application of psychology. The department is associated with clinics and schools in order to provide maximum exposure to enhance the skills required for psychological practice in future and also students get interaction with the eminent people in the field of psychology through seminars and workshops conducted by the department. The best choice for such aspirants is department of psychology, KAHM Unity women’s college.

Psychological Lab

Experimental psychology is the study of psychological issues that uses experimental procedures. It is an area of psychology that utilizes scientific methods to research the mind and behaviour. The psychology lab establishes on 2020 for the second and final year UG students. Providing 8 experiments in second year and 24 experiments in final year. Paper pencil test, instrumental methods and questionnaire methods for the experiments.

 

Counselling Cell

A counselling cell is working under psychology department for the mental well-being of the students. The counselling cell started on 2019. Counselling sessions were scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
